Service description

Considering building a new project? Unsure of what might have historically affected your land? Bluestone environmental can undertake a number of investigations and sampling programs depending on your needs.. Whether for DA approval, clean-ups or due diligence, we're here to help.
PSI (Preliminary Site Investigation)
A PSI or Stage 1 contamination assessment is a common requirement for developments on land which may have had different land uses throughout its history. The investigation comprises a number of desktop based reviews, as well as a site investigation, sometimes in conjunction with a broad sampling program. The outcome of this investigation is a report which details the site history and justification for sampling (or lack there-of) and a conceptual site model for any encountered contamination for future works if required.
This report is often all that is required to satisfy a contamination investigation request.
DSI (Detailed Site investigation)
If your site needs a little more attention, that is, if the PSI detected contamination above certain levels, we can conduct a more thorough sampling investigation, to delineate exact problem areas and inform potential remediation action plans.
Soil / Waste Classification
If you need to move soil from site, either to re-use on another property, or dispose of if contaminated, you must have a classification for the soil prior to it leaving site.
VENM - Clean, natural soils free from contamination can be classified as VENM (Virgin Excavated Natural Material) if they meet all criteria and can be re-used.
ENM - Natural soils with very minor anthropogenic waste - In some instances, soils can have very small amounts of contamination (less than 2% building waste for example) and can be re-used if all assessed readings fall below the EPA's guidelines. This soil, once classified, is able to be used in a variety of applications.
Waste Classification - Due to historical land uses, once excavated, soils coming from even residential areas may not reach the standards for beneficial re-use and will need to be disposed of as waste. Bluestone Environmental can undertake site based sampling to properly classify the soils for disposal, so that they may then be disposed of.
We cover a wide range of contaminants, from acid sulphate soils to hydrocarbons and asbestos, so please reach out for assistance
